About Linda
Linda J. Carroll is a seasoned information technology professional and expert capacity planner with more than four decades of experience in IBM mainframe systems. She has built a distinguished career in performance modeling, capacity management, forecasting, and infrastructure optimization, beginning in the late 1970s and later spending more than 20 years with IBM before joining Ensono, where she continues to serve as a Senior and Expert Capacity Planner. Her expertise includes developing innovative approaches to capacity forecasting, including a methodology for predicting computer usage based on business seasonality and linear projections. She has authored and co-authored technical publications, including IBM Redbooks, and has presented her work at numerous national and international IT conferences.
In addition to her technology career, Linda is an accomplished professional photographer and the owner of LC Photography, LLC. She specializes in corporate headshots, branding, sports photography, fine art portraits, and other professional and personal photography services. A Certified Professional Photographer and Photographic Craftsman, she has earned recognition through professional photography competitions and organizations. Her accomplishments include receiving the Photographic Craftsman degree from the Professional Photographers of America in 2025, while her continued involvement with the Georgia Professional Photographers Association reflects her commitment to advancing the photography profession and supporting fellow photographers.
Linda is also recognized as a speaker, mentor, author, and lifelong learner who enjoys connecting complex technical concepts with practical business strategy. Her recent work explores the intersection of mainframes, artificial intelligence, and strategic decision-making, including presentations focused on AI strategy and game-theory-based thinking. She has spoken at more than 30 IT conferences and remains actively engaged in professional communities while volunteering her photography skills for animal-welfare initiatives. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, curiosity, and passion. I keep trying, continue learning, and remain genuinely engaged in the work I do. I enjoy contributing, and I bring that same curiosity and passion to everything I do each day.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never stop learning and to always remain curious. Continuous learning keeps me open to new ideas, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to learn as much as you can and never be afraid to speak up. There are more opportunities available to women today, so be confident in your knowledge, share your perspective, and take advantage of the opportunities in front of you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the growing shortage of people with mainframe expertise. There is a significant skill gap, and as experienced professionals retire or move on, there are fewer people available to pass along their knowledge and experience. This also creates a major opportunity for younger professionals to learn these skills and help carry this expertise into the future.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me are integrity, problem-solving, and adaptability. I believe in approaching my work with honesty and doing the right thing, while also being able to analyze complex challenges and find effective solutions. I also value embracing technology as it continues to evolve and finding ways to use it to improve how I work and contribute.
