What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the resilience I’ve cultivated throughout my life. From rebuilding my life in recovery to advancing from a minimum-wage job, I’ve maintained a strong work ethic and unwavering determination. My strength comes from my faith, my family, and my commitment to helping others achieve stable housing. I pride myself on staying grounded, loyal, and focused, no matter the challenges life presents.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Helping your team accomplish their potential is key.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to know your worth and never hesitate to ask for help. You don’t have to go it alone to be strong. Take pride in your role, because property management isn’t just about buildings, it’s about people. Be kind, consistent, and willing to tackle the challenging aspects, like legal procedures and cost controls. That is how you truly add value. Developing emotional intelligence is equally important, as it helps build lasting, meaningful relationships with tenants, coworkers, and property owners.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is navigating high delinquency rates and extended eviction timelines, especially when working with tenants who may be undocumented or lack legal identification. Another challenge is balancing compassion for residents with accountability to property owners. At the same time, there are significant opportunities, such as learning updated state and federal housing laws, improving digital systems for better communication and payment tracking, and exploring future opportunities in real estate ownership or sales.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are empathy, integrity, resilience, and loyalty. I strive to lead positively through my actions and let my faith and family serve as grounding forces that guide my decisions and interactions. These principles shape how I approach challenges, support others, and maintain a strong sense of purpose in everything I do.
