What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a commitment to always doing the right thing, maintaining integrity in every decision, and staying grounded in what truly matters. Outside of my professional life, I find balance and inspiration through activities I love, such as riding horses, ice skating, traveling, photography, and enjoying contemporary and classic music. My greatest joy comes from my daughter, who is a music composer living in Denmark with her marvelous husband. When I am not at appointments, I cherish simple, peaceful moments spent feeding the many wild birds in all seasons. At home, my two dogs, Kirie and Teo, bring constant warmth and companionship. These passions keep me centered, motivated, and grateful, shaping both the person and the professional I strive to be every day.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice in my career, and in any business, is "Do the right thing"!
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
17 years ago I took a step into unfamiliar territory; meaning the insurance industry. I had zero knowledge of insurance, especially the Medicare space. I was encouraged to study for my license, and within a short while, I began an entirely new world for myself and a career that rewarded me. My advice to young women is to think beyond what you perceive as "limitations", because in truth, there are none! The world is your oyster, as they say! The most important thing is to do what you love! It might not be the insurance business as it certainly wasn't my dream, but it had much to do with people and empathy, traveling around New England, and it instilled a sense of responsibility and cultivated a professionalism I am proud of.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in the Medicare insurance business today is misinformation! It is vital to know the facts, and to trust your representative. As licensed agents, we must renew our contracts every year, which requires trainings and certifications and compliance testing.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me, both in my work and in my personal life, are integrity, service, and genuine care for others. I am deeply committed to serving the entire state of Maine and take pride in helping individuals navigate Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Supplements, Life Insurance, and Annuities with clarity and compassion.
