About Linda

Linda Mendoza serves in a people operations capacity at Briona Industries, the largest cattle feeding operation in the United States with 10 locations across Texas and Southwest Kansas. Based in the corporate office in Amarillo, Texas, she oversees office managers at the various sites and works to bridge corporate and feedyard operations for the company's roughly 500 employees. Mendoza joined the industry a little over five years ago after many years in medical services, bringing her experience to support employee experiences across the organization. She holds a high school diploma and completed some basic coursework at Amarillo College without earning a degree. In her work, Mendoza prioritizes dependability, respect, integrity, compassion, and creating a positive culture where employees feel valued.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never be afraid of stepping outside of your comfort zone. Some of the best opportunities come from saying yes to something you weren't comfortable or ready for. Be willing to learn, ask questions, work hard. You don't have to know everything to be successful, just be willing to grow and learn.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't be afraid to take up space, speak up, ask questions, take opportunities even when you don't feel completely ready. Don't compare your journey to someone else's. Work really hard, stay humble, surround yourself with people who encourage you to grow. Learn from your mistakes. Build strong relationships. Know your worth, advocate for yourself.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Dealing with the market and cattle supply in the U.S. Weather, especially the heat in Texas. Labor shortages, trying to get the right employees and give them a good experience.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being a really hard worker, dependable, committed, and willing to put in effort. Respect, integrity, doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Compassion, caring about people, recognizing relationships matter. Creating a culture where employees feel respected, valued, comfortable. Loving what I do every day.
