About Linda
Linda Washington is an entrepreneur, published author, and recording artist with a degree in nursing. She entered her field two years ago after overcoming breast cancer and subsequent domestic abuse, channeling those experiences into advocacy for survivors. Washington uses her talk show on YouTube, previously aired on the Bold and Brave TV Network, along with her books including Forbidden and Broken: Find the Love Behind the Scars and the upcoming Breathe, and her music to provide a platform for others to speak their truth. She attributes her success to helping people who have faced devastation realize they are not alone and can find love and self-belief again. Her values center on seeing survivors smile and recognize their worth, and she advises young women to never give up on their dreams and believe in themselves.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Linda
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success comes from knowing that I'm helping somebody. People that have been through something devastated, they don't have to live in silence anymore. I want them to know that they're not alone, and that there are people out there that will listen to them. That's my success. With my talk show, it's like, that's their platform to come on and speak their truth. There is somebody out there that believes in them, and know what they're going through.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never give up on your dream. Go work towards it. And go for it. And don't let nobody ever tell you what you can or cannot do. Because in your heart, you know that you can do it. Believe in yourself. And you'll go far. Just don't let nobody talk you out of achieving what you want to achieve.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge for me is it took a long time for me to start believing in myself again because I was put down for so long, it just got to the point, that's what I thought, that's who I was. But it took me a long time to finally find myself again, and want to find love again. It was a long journey. And I'm still working past it. I still have that fear. But I don't want to live with that, so I'm trying to work on myself more.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Seeing somebody smile. Somebody that went through something bad and smiling. And knowing their worth. And knowing that they matter.
