Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lindsay
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mom and my close friends and my community in LA. I have family that is supportive and believes in me, and I also have the best friends in the world. It's very important to have an inner circle that believes in you and they're there for you on your bad and worst days.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't take advice from someone that hasn't achieved what you want to achieve. Always look to someone that has hit that milestone, because anybody who hasn't gotten to where you want to go is not in the position where they can give you advice because they don't know how to get there themselves. Look to people that have hit those milestones, win those awards, conquered those feats.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
This is a very competitive industry. Always do your best work, put your best foot forward, meet deadlines, study, get to the very best level through college or working privately at an acting studio or with a coach. Give 150% into your auditions. Have a good long-term vision and plan for the ups and downs. Stay focused on your goals, have resilience and believe in yourself even on your worst days. Not getting the job doesn't mean you're not great at the job.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Our industry has gone through a lot of changes with artificial intelligence and consolidating of jobs. It's important to learn an additional skill set and familiarize yourself with different technology. Women are starting to write, produce, direct, create their own material. Familiarize with tech platforms ethically and responsibly. Know how to do stuff other than act like writing and producing to have creative control.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
For work: set goals, follow through, integrity, be a team player and listen to other people's needs. Personally and professionally: nurturing, attuned and sensitive to people's needs, cheerleader, happy-go-lucky, encourage people, bring out their best. Hopeless romantic, loving, caring person.
