Her Story
About Lindsay
I work at the Food and Ag Products Center at Oklahoma State in almost an extension role, where I travel the state and visit with small processors to see if they need anything from us. We have a team here at FAPSI, that's what we call the Food and Ag Product Center, that deals with food safety and marketing, labels, anything that they might need from a business standpoint, and then if they need any technical help with processing, that's kind of why I visit them. I was actually a student at Oklahoma State from 2018 to 2020, and they have a processing facility on the second floor where I was a student worker. At the time, Bar S Foods was coming here and using it as a research facility because they didn't have their own, and I met some of those people. After graduation, I went to work for Bar S Foods, and then they called and said that this position was open and would I like to come back, and absolutely I would. I'm truly honored and excited to be here.

Ten minutes with Lindsay
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would probably say my mom. I've watched her work so hard. We had a convenience store as a kid, and both my parents were there from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. They had lunch specials and all the dinner specials. I spent my summers carrying out the plates to farmers, and just watching her, and then, you know, we also lived on a farm, so you go home and the work doesn't stop, like, there's not time to do nothing. Just watching her, and growing up in that environment, and that grit, to just never stop.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid to try something new. There might be something completely out of your wheelhouse that you are nervous to try, and just go for it. And I think the next piece I would give is get an on-campus job. I did not want an on-campus job. I thought you worked long hours for a little pay, but I learned so much, and the people I met, like, I would not trade that experience for the world.
