Lindsay Herring

I am a cybersecurity executive and IT security leader with over two decades of experience in cyber risk management, security strategy, and enterprise technology integration, currently serving as IT Security Director and Senior Vice President at Citizens Financial Group, Inc., a role I have held since December 2018, where I am responsible for all M&A and newly formed Private Bank Cyber Security Integrations across all domains of security. I also serve as Senior Management to the Franklin American Mortgage Business Line, aligning all security with Citizens Bank Enterprise standards.

Prior to this role, I served as Head of Security at Franklin American Mortgage, which was acquired by Citizens in August 2018, where I built the security program from the ground up, developed strategy and roadmap, built an amazing security team, and implemented security controls throughout the company, hardening the infrastructure, lowering risks in all domains, and shrinking the attack vector while developing programs from vulnerability and threat management to governance risk and compliance.

Before joining Citizens, I served as Security Services Manager at LBMC Information Security, where I implemented and developed iterations of a risk assessment tool deployed as a multi-tenant solution for assessing risks, and as Cyber Security Consultant at Tractor Supply Company, where I supported security in policy, compliance, GRC, security best practices, cyber security metrics, process improvement, and security tool implementation.

I spent nearly twelve years at Lockheed Martin in progressively responsible roles, including Cyber Security Senior Engineer for over eight years, where I led projects for Corporate Information Security, developed security policy frameworks, led the cyber security metrics program, aligned external standards to Lockheed Martin's Corporate Information Protection Manual, and served as SharePoint Administrator and RSAM/Cyber Risk tool administrator. I also completed the Information Systems Leadership Program, a rotational IT leadership program that included leadership training workshops and a Master's degree in Management Information Systems, and served as Senior Software Engineer and Software Engineer, where I developed web applications using ColdFusion, Java, and JavaScript, and developed technical documentation and disaster recovery plans.

I hold a Master of Science in Management of Information Systems from RPI Lally School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Across my career in cybersecurity, IT security, and technology leadership, my work has been driven by a commitment to protecting organizations from cyber threats, building resilient security programs, and developing strong security teams. Whether I am leading M&A security integrations, building security programs from the ground up, or developing enterprise security policies, I bring a strategic mindset, deep technical expertise, and a dedication to operational excellence that strengthens organizational security and resilience.
