Her Story

About Lindsay

Lindsay McDowell serves as Director of Customer Sales at Avetta, a SaaS supply chain company, where she leads sales operations across North America and Canada. She guides a team of eight account managers, coaching them through negotiations and helping them craft tailored solutions for a client base that spans global enterprises to emerging businesses. Her career in SaaS took root in 2011, sparked by an internship at QVC that redirected her path into sales. From there, she cut her teeth at a startup that was later acquired by IBM, an experience she describes as her true sales education. Along the way, she built her expertise through Salesforce, Blend, and Encapture, eventually relocating to Dallas during the COVID-19 pandemic to step into her current role at Avetta. Her contributions have been recognized with membership in the President's Club, and she has continued sharpening her craft through certifications including a two-time Sandler sales training designation, Winning by Design, the Sales Impact Academy's Managing the Complete Sales Cycle program, and the MEDDICC Value Program.

A graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and took part in an Australia study abroad program, Lindsay has carried a spirit of curiosity and discipline into her professional life. She credits much of her drive to her father, a self-made entrepreneur who passed away when she was young; watching him build businesses and relationships instilled in her a lasting sense of grit and determination. That same entrepreneurial mindset now shapes how she approaches leadership, particularly when mentoring newer members of her team who are still learning that success is earned through persistence rather than given.

Beyond her day-to-day role, Lindsay is an active member of Pavilion, the invite-only community for revenue-focused professionals, and dedicates her time to causes close to her heart, including volunteering with the Captain Jason Jones Memorial Foundation and contributing to Pencils of Promise. She believes strongly in consistency as a guiding value, both at work and at home, and applies that same philosophy to her personal life through habits like her regular morning runs. When she's not leading her team or investing in her community, she can be found traveling with her husband and daughters or spending time outdoors with the family's English Springer Spaniel.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lindsay

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the entrepreneurial spirit and grit I inherited from my father, who was a self-made entrepreneur. He passed away when I was young, but watching him build companies and cultivate relationships inspired me to develop that same persistence and drive throughout my own career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is to never try to be the loudest person in the room. Instead, I strive to be an active listener with an open mind, especially in meetings with executives or individuals with diverse skill sets, because that approach allows me to learn far more.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women entering sales to move beyond remote-work habits by prioritizing in-person meetings. Don't be afraid to get on a plane, ask for a lunch or coffee meeting, and build face-to-face relationships — personal interactions create far stronger connections than Zoom calls alone.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

As a manager, one of the biggest challenges I face is navigating different personalities and coaching younger team members, some of whom may expect success to be handed to them rather than understanding the grind and persistence required to achieve it.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Consistency is the value most important to me, both professionally and personally. As a Taurus, I thrive on stability, and I believe that actions matching words speaks volumes — whether with colleagues, friends, or family. This same principle of 30-day consistency has also helped me build new habits, like my morning runs.
