Her Story

About Lindsay

I hold a Bachelor's of Science degree and an MBA in Management and Marketing, which I completed in 2017 after deliberately waiting five years after my undergraduate degree in 2009. My father, who also had an MBA, gave me the best advice - don't go straight into it, you need work experience to appreciate the program. That turned out to be incredibly valuable because I was able to apply everything I was learning in grad school to my day-to-day work. I focused my MBA on customer intelligence, using AI and predictive analytics to really deliver results and value creation. My professional creed is to reduce consumer and employee effort to drive sales, and if whatever I'm working on is not achieving that, I won't do it. Integrity is a big value for me - doing what you say you're going to do. I work in an industry that requires compliance approval, so I have to be careful about external communications and run everything by my leadership team. I'm actively involved in the Miami tech community, recently attending tech events, and I enjoy the vibrant professional scene here.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received came from my father, who also had an MBA. He told me don't go straight into your MBA - you won't appreciate the program. You need to have some work experience first. That was probably the best advice, because I was able to use everything I was learning in grad school and apply it to my day-to-day work. I waited five years on purpose between my undergraduate and graduate degrees because of his guidance, and I would give that same advice to anyone I speak to. Having that real-world experience made all the difference in how much I got out of the program.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is really a big one for me - doing what you say you're going to do. I follow a creed that guides everything I do: to reduce consumer and employee effort to drive sales. If whatever I'm working on is not achieving that, then I'm not going to do it. Those are the two things that really drive me and focus my attention. It's about making sure that my work creates real value and that I maintain my commitment to what I promise.
