Her Story

About Lindsey

I've been working in recruiting and HR for about 3 and a half years total, with 2 years in my current role as an HR Generalist. I run a full desk recruiting operation and handle everything under the HR umbrella, from the end-to-end recruitment process to being an employee's resource for benefits questions and employee relations. I was always intrigued with oil and gas because it's a crazy market to be in, and I knew I was going to learn the most if I got in with a company right out of college within that market and industry. It has helped me grow professionally ever since I graduated and stepped foot in this industry. One of the things I really wanted to emphasize is just how young I am in this industry, and I have seen a lot of things within my time in this field and being in oil and gas. Being really young comes with challenges when you're the youngest in the organization sometimes, but I stayed motivated, and I didn't let others' perceptions limit what I knew I was capable of doing.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lindsey

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the organizations I've been with and their leadership, and also one professor that I had all throughout college within my HR classes. She definitely helped me to grow and figure out what I really wanted within this major that I was achieving with the university. I think she played a big role in inspiring me what I really wanted to do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Find what you love to do, and do it.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to stay strong and eager. I think when you first graduate college, it's really hard transitioning into the workforce. But as long as you're motivated and willing to prove your worth, I think you can really be successful.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Working for small oil and gas companies, it's sometimes hard to fill roles, just because of how niche some of the positions are. And then gaining social media presence in this huge industry is another challenge.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say humility, work-life balance, and being a people for others. Those would probably be my top 3.
