Ten minutes with Lindsey
01What do you attribute your success to?
My success started when I responded with kindness to a high-conflict colleague instead of responding with fear. She gave me an advancement opportunity because of that, and I kept advancing by showing continued eagerness to learn and developing close relationships with mentors. I ran towards opportunities rather than shying away and thankfully I’ve become close with amazing people who have encouraged me and ushered me towards advancement opportunities or supported my endeavor to continue learning and growing.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Treat “everything like it’s a test” and always take your curiosity “one step further”.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Maintain the highest form of professionalism at all times, especially in male-dominated spaces. Be quick to listen and slow to speak. When you have questions or areas where you don’t feel well informed or confident, always take your curiosity “one step further”. Surround yourself with mentors who character and success align. Being brave and being bold are conscious choices; don’t wait to feel it before you decide to act it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
AI, automation, and funding changes are undeniably changing the telecommunications industry. The continuous push to evolve and adapt to the technological advances is keeping the industry on its toes.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Appreciation and valuing efforts is key. Kindness and humanity feel in short supply at times nowadays but remain incredibly powerful when maintaining connections with others. Having a positive home environment paired with a positive work environment are essential must haves for maintaining peace and success. I ensure I’m being intentional in my efforts to show appreciation which, even through small gestures like acknowledging work anniversaries or expressing thankfulness to coworkers, keeps people feeling better connected. I’m thankful I work for a company whose highest value is developing genuine relationships and provides a space for everyone to feel appreciated.
