Her Story
About Lindsey
Lindsey Carter is an entrepreneur, healthcare business leader, and Owner/Operating Principal of FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her path into physical therapy was deeply personal, beginning with the birth of her daughter, Lynna, who was diagnosed with a complex DeafBlind syndrome just weeks after birth. As a parent navigating years of therapy, insurance challenges, uncertainty, and countless appointments, Lindsey gained an intimate understanding of what families experience when seeking care for a child with complex needs. Watching her daughter work toward milestones—including taking her first steps at age four—profoundly shaped Lindsey’s perspective and inspired her and her husband to invest in physical therapy with a mission to create a more compassionate, family-centered healthcare experience.
Since opening the clinic, Lindsey has focused on building an organization where clinical excellence and genuine human connection go hand in hand. What began with one physical therapist and 16 patients has grown into a thriving practice with seven therapists and more than 1,000 patients served in a recent month. As a leader, Lindsey emphasizes a patient-first philosophy, believing that healthcare should address not only the clinical needs of patients but also the experiences of the families supporting them. She has worked to foster strong community partnerships and build a team of skilled professionals who share her commitment to treating every patient with empathy, dignity, and respect. Her firsthand experience as a patient parent continues to influence the culture of the practice and her vision for what exceptional care should look like.
Looking ahead, Lindsey remains focused on growth while staying grounded in the purpose that brought her into healthcare in the first place. She is exploring opportunities to expand the clinic’s services, including potential growth into pediatrics, while continuing to strengthen its role within the Colorado Springs community. Lindsey’s journey demonstrates how personal adversity can become a powerful source of purpose and innovation, transforming one family’s experience into an opportunity to serve thousands of others. She encourages aspiring entrepreneurs and healthcare leaders to recognize that challenges do not have to define what is possible; with hard work, passion, perseverance, and a clear sense of purpose, it is possible to build something meaningful that changes lives.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It will be one of the hardest things that you've ever done. However, not only is it doable, it is worth it. You will spend countless late nights. Everything will be harder than you've expected, and it will be worth it anyway. Because I feel like, boy, of course, there are times when I have wanted to pull my eyelashes out one at a time. However, the way Lena and I look at life is, and we have this in a lot of our onboarding in our clinic as well, because we believe this with our patients, and that is: You fall down 7 times, and you stand up 8. That's it. And there's no secret sauce to hunt for besides hard work and passion. You know, we truly believe in our life, the diligent shall prosper, and it's not easy, and it is not for the faint of heart, but man, it is doable, and you ought to try. You fall flat on your face. Try again.
