Her Story
About Lindsey
Lindsey Kraten is a Bay Area-based sound meditation practitioner, yoga instructor, and holistic private chef whose work sits at the intersection of culinary artistry and wellness. Raised in Santa Cruz and based in San Francisco since 2006, she has spent nearly two decades building a career devoted to helping individuals and teams slow down, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with a sense of presence. Fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, she draws on a deep appreciation for culture and intentional gathering to shape immersive, restorative experiences for her clients.
Her path began in the culinary world, where she trained in hospitality and restaurant management at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and went on to work across San Francisco's dining scene, including time as general manager of an organic vegan restaurant in the Mission District and roles at Latin-inspired establishments such as Gracias Madre and Fresca Peruvian. It was this immersion in food and wellness-oriented restaurant culture that sparked her personal interest in health, eventually leading her toward yoga. After completing her yoga teacher training in India, she went on to earn a certificate in Music, Voice, and Sound Healing through a year-long program, deepening a lifelong passion for music into a formal healing practice.
Today, Lindsey offers sound baths and yoga sessions at studios and private locations throughout the Bay Area, using instruments such as gongs, crystal singing bowls, and Native American flutes in sessions that typically run about 60 minutes. She has extended this work to corporate clients, including teams at Genentech, and leads wellness retreats — both domestically and internationally — that pair sound meditation with her private chef services, offering nourishing meals designed to feel like a natural extension of the retreat experience. Her practice has been shaped in part by mentors Matthew and Terces Kelly (Engelhart), co-founders of the Cafe Gratitude and Gracias Madre restaurant community, whose focus on self-improvement and personal growth continues to inform her approach to bringing stillness, care, and intentionality to everyone she works with.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell her to start with herself and ask whether this is truly the industry she wants to move into. From there, I'd encourage her to begin by practicing it for herself first, because when we teach from a place of lived experience, we bring far more wisdom and depth than when we're simply repeating something we've memorized. Start by practicing, start trying, start talking to people in the field, and immerse yourself in those communities — from there, you'll see where the path leads you.
