About Lindsey
Lindsey Meighan serves as the leader of the sales department at Career Circle, a role she assumed full-time in March after beginning contract work there in October. With a dual degree in theater and media production from Florida State University earned in 2006, she transitioned into sales after initially believing it was not a fit for her background. Prior to this, she spent 15 years in advertising sales at Hearst Television in the Orlando, Florida market, where she progressed from an assistant role to running a digital sales department of about 17 people and then led a local sales team of about 10 for the NBC affiliate, customizing campaigns across television, digital, and mobile platforms. After taking an eight-month career break to focus on IVF and starting a family, she made a pivotal switch to her current industry four years ago. Meighan emphasizes that professionals are more than their last decision and encourages trying different opportunities, raising a hand for new challenges, and embracing failure as a path to growth.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
You are more than your last decision. You don't have to be defined by what you've done for the last 10 years. You're allowed to change your mind, continue to grow and challenge yourself. People get into a career and think they can't pivot and switch, but you absolutely can and should.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Try a lot of different things and not be afraid to go in and try and fail. That is how you learn the quickest. Raise your hand for any opportunity, whether in or out of your job description, to learn as much as possible.
