Her Story
About Lindsey
Lindsey Richmond serves as a corporate sustainability specialist focused on ESG at Caterpillar, a role she has held since June 2025. She entered the sustainability field in 2020 after beginning her corporate career in human resources and moving into communications, where her background in the social aspects of business positioned her to lead ESG initiatives as they gained prominence starting in 2021. Richmond earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Oklahoma State University and completed her MBA at the University of Tulsa in 2023. She attributes her professional success to being raised by hardworking people and emphasizes values of trying hard, direct communication, and integrity. Richmond advises young women entering the field to make their presence and ideas known from the start, and she sees the greatest opportunity in operationalizing sustainability within organizations to drive efficiency and cost savings rather than viewing it solely as feel-good efforts. Outside of work, she enjoys playing golf, reading, hiking, and training her German Shepherd puppy.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lindsey
01What do you attribute your success to?
I was raised by hardworking people. It's all I've ever known.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Say yes, and figure it out.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Make your presence known. I didn't do that early on. You know, early on in my career, I, you know, kind of was speaking, spoken to, and work my way in, and I don't think there's room for that anymore. I think you have to make your presence known, make your ideas known. And really figure out how to jump in there and stay in there.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the biggest opportunity is helping my organization operationalized sustainability so that it's not viewed as the feel-good stuff, but really the stuff that can save companies' money, make them more lean, operate more efficiently. I think that's the biggest challenge and the biggest opportunity.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Trying hard. Doesn't mean you're good at it, but you try hard. Being direct in communication. And integrity.
