About Lisa
Lisa Burton serves as a health service administrator and nurse with more than two decades of experience supporting patients across diverse healthcare environments. Beginning her career as a certified nursing assistant and home attendant, she advanced through roles as a physician assistant and medical assistant, providing care in inpatient settings, patients' homes, hospice, pediatrics at St. John's, and the Department of Sanitation clinic. Burton recently completed her bachelor's degree in Health Service Administration along with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in June 2026 and plans to pursue additional studies at Pacific College. She attributes her achievements to dedication and a passion for helping others that began in her teenage years assisting her grandfather, and she extends this commitment by volunteering to help friends, coworkers, her sister, and church members pursue nursing degrees. Burton values family support and surrounding herself with like-minded professionals, and she advocates for greater inclusion and equal opportunities across all medical titles to ensure quality patient care.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Dedication and following my passion for helping people. From a young age I knew I had a gift for helping, starting with my grandfather, and I have a soft heart for anyone in need. Following your passion and putting it to good use in medical work for quality care.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Be driven, be focused, be hungry for it, and make it to a dwelling place. If this is your passion, be willing to put the work in and take the time to pursue your happiness. Do the work, it's not gonna come to you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be driven, focused, hungry for it. Put the work in and pursue your happiness and education. Don't forget to take breaks and give yourself push gifts.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Inclusion for all, equal opportunity and benefits regardless of medical title. Fighting for benefits like nurses on strike, LPNs passing bills for unions. Everyone plays a valuable role in quality of care.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Support from family and like-minded individuals, love, and surrounding yourself with people who understand you professionally and personally. Family support to uplift and take stress off, lifestyle changes like gym and healthy eating.
