About Lisa

Lisa DeFelice serves as Head of Operations and Head of Supply Chain at Redone, an apparel company based in Glendale, California. She entered the industry in 2000 after developing an interest in fashion design and costume design, which led her to learn sewing and secure her first role in New York working in production and running a sample room. In her current position, she manages the full supply chain funnel, including oversight of manufacturing with overseas vendors, inbound shipping, warehousing, B2B wholesale shipments to partners such as Nordstrom, and direct-to-customer online orders. She also handles operational needs for retail stores and warehouses, tracks costs and budgets as a major cost center, and works with carriers like UPS and FedEx. Previously, she held similar roles at Bento. DeFelice emphasizes clear communication with investors and leadership to align on vision and advises young women entering fashion that the industry is not as glamorous as portrayed and to remain true to themselves without letting the environment change their character.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lisa

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Mistakes are always made. When you figure out that you've made a mistake, the person who's going to be the hardest on you is not your boss, not anyone else but you. I think to myself, first, how much money did it cost the company I'm working for? Second, does my boss think it's a big deal? Third, what will I do to never let it happen again?

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It's not as glamorous as it seems. The Devil Wears Prada is not how fashion works. It's actually worse. Don't let it change you. Be yourself, be good. I want to be nice. I want to help young women that start and not be mean to them.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Working with investors and higher leadership to have the same vision. A lot of people think money's just going to be printed but there's a lot of work. Communication can be a challenge. Stuff out of your control like overseas production and shipping with UPS or FedEx. Designs get tweaked shortening time for production and supply chain.
