Lisa Egrie is a seasoned sports instructor, coach, and small business owner with over 18 years of experience developing athletes and building successful sports programs. A former Division I softball player, Lisa has leveraged her competitive experience and deep knowledge of athletics to guide more than 40 young women to collegiate sports careers. She has built and managed state-of-the-art facilities, expanding her programs from a mobile business to a 28,000-square-foot multi-sport complex, establishing herself as one of the pioneering female facility owners in New Jersey.

Throughout her career, Lisa has combined athletic expertise with educational experience, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and a teaching certification. Her specialties include athlete development, recruiting guidance, skills video creation, and program design, enabling student-athletes to maximize their potential both on and off the field. She is also an accomplished author, having written a book on softball recruiting, and has mentored athletes and their families through the collegiate selection process, emphasizing preparation, discipline, and resilience.

Lisa’s professional journey is defined by her dedication to mentorship, empowerment, and leadership in a male-dominated industry. She has cultivated a reputation for authenticity, resilience, and creating opportunities for others, while balancing the responsibilities of motherhood and entrepreneurship. With a passion for guiding athletes toward excellence, she continues to explore new avenues to expand her impact, whether through sports instruction, program development, or collaborative initiatives with educational institutions and athletic organizations.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance, adaptability, and the support of key individuals in my life—including my mother, coaches, and my son. Their encouragement, combined with my drive to create opportunities for others while setting a strong example, has been instrumental in my growth and achievements.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve received is to work hard, remain resilient, and always strive to set a positive example. This guidance has kept me motivated through challenges and encouraged me to take ownership of my career and business endeavors.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

For young women entering a male-dominated sports industry, I advise staying authentic, being financially prepared, and being willing to go it alone rather than relying on others. Trust your skills, know your worth, and never compromise your values for expedience.

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include rebuilding and adapting sports facilities post-COVID while navigating the competitive and male-dominated nature of the industry. Opportunities lie in leveraging my expertise to develop new programs, mentor athletes, and expand access to high-quality instruction.

The most important values for me are resilience, leadership, empowerment, and authenticity. I strive to create environments that uplift others, whether through coaching, mentorship, or running my own sports programs, while balancing my responsibilities as a mother and entrepreneur.
