01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you put your mind to it, you can definitely do it. Work hard, train hard, and help out others, whether that be helping out the community or helping out other officers.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It's the best job in the world. As a woman, you can do anything that you set your mind to. Don't let people's biases sway your confidence or your desire to become a law enforcement officer. Use that as a desire to move forward, get more training, and just be hungry for the next step.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Working in a male-dominated field is a bit different, but there shouldn't be a difference. You should never become an excuse to lower a standard or cut corners. The job requires a certain level of physical ability, mental toughness, and sound judgment that should apply equally to everyone. I want to change the perception that when you think of a police officer, you think of a male. I want to make sure that I do the job right, I can do the job well, and I make the community proud.
