Her Story
About Lisa
I have been in the people and culture space for a little over 20 years, and that is what I'm most known for in the industry. I pride myself on being that almost impossible balance between serving the organization and serving employees. It is not easy to do, but I am able to be that bridge and just make sure that things are done as fairly as they possibly can be, and that everybody feels like their voices have been heard. Currently, I am the head of people partnerships for Bezos Academy, a non-profit founded by Jeff Bezos where we are putting free Montessori-inspired preschools in under-resourced communities. We're currently in 6 different states right now, and I lead those efforts for that organization. In addition to that, I own my own HR consulting firm with a number of clients that reside in California in the entertainment industry. My husband and I also started a life insurance and annuity brokerage that we run, focused on educating people around financial literacy and how to best prepare for the inevitable. I have mentored several up-and-coming professionals that I'm super proud about, who are now growing into their own, owning their own businesses, running their own businesses, and just growing within the corporate space.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just do it. Don't wait for perfection. There will never be a perfect time, but really, you know, pick something that you're truly passionate about, pick something that you truly love, because you're going to have to lean in on that when you are trying to build your brand and build your business. But if it's something that you really, really, truly love, it is not going to feel like the mountain that you're going to have to climb in order to see it through and ensure that you're successful in it.
