Her Story

About Lisa

Lisa Gambon is an entrepreneur and designer of skin-to-skin gowns based in Cleveland, Ohio. She specializes in maternal health, postpartum healing, and postpartum doula support. Gambon started her career in education as a high school English teacher and taught English as a second language overseas for three years. She then spent 18 years in corporate banking, advancing from an entry-level position to corporate vice president. Motivated by her experience during the emergency C-section birth of her fourth child, she transitioned into maternal healthcare three or four years ago. She made a professional leap two years ago to launch her business designing patented skin-to-skin gowns that support discreet labor, delivery, bonding, and breastfeeding. Gambon has earned her postpartum doula certification and participated in the Women in Retail program through the Urban League of Cleveland. She attributes her success to a combination of her parents' empowerment and her own hard work and perseverance, values she strives to instill in her four children.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lisa

01What do you attribute your success to?

A combination of my parents empowering me and my own hard work and perseverance. My parents believed we could do whatever we wanted and encouraged us. As a mom now, I want to instill the same in my children by showing them that working hard and putting your mind to something allows you to determine your own destiny.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be bold and take that first step, even if it's small. Keep moving forward. Figure out a way to make sure people understand your product and its benefits. Believe in your idea and determine how it can help or delight people. There will be tons of rejection but belief and boldness will see you through.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith is a huge part of my life, instilled at a young age. Gratitude and being appreciative of opportunities granted. Hard work and dedication, as modeled by my parents who always made sure things were finished the right way. I strive to instill these values in my children.
