With approximately nine years of collective experience in purchasing, Lisa has built a diverse career across manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics sectors, developing a strong foundation in procurement strategy, vendor management, and operations support.
Lisa began her professional journey in human resources before transitioning into procurement, where she discovered her passion for supply chain operations. Over the years, she has worked with organizations such as Bon Secours Mercy Health, UGN, Inc., and BGR, gaining hands-on experience in managing purchasing processes and supplier relationships, including international sourcing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati and is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the international honor society for sociology. Her career path reflects a willingness to adapt and grow, guided by curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning.
Known for her “jack-of-all-trades” mindset, Lisa thrives on expanding her knowledge and contributing across multiple areas of the business. She credits mentor Bruce Tennant for making a meaningful impact on her career and takes pride in working her way up to her current role. Outside of her professional life, Lisa enjoys shopping and traveling, with the Grand Cayman Islands as her favorite destination. What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my curiosity and my love of learning new things. I'm really interested in just learning new things, and I feel like I'm a jack-of-all-trades, so I like to have my hand in everything. That makes me want to learn more. It's really just my curiosity and wanting to keep learning that has driven my success.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never be afraid to ask questions. It has stayed with me because I believe curiosity is essential to growth—without asking, there’s no way to truly learn, gain clarity, or expand your understanding.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to pursue further education and actively seek relevant certifications to strengthen their expertise and credibility. Equally important is building meaningful professional connections—surrounding yourself with knowledgeable and supportive individuals can provide valuable insights, mentorship, and opportunities for growth. These relationships play a key role in both personal and professional development within the field.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge currently is dealing with imports because of all the tariffs and everything going on. Since we're an international company, the tariffs have become a major issue. On the opportunity side, being an international company means we have the openness to accept vendors in different countries and try to find the best price possible without having less quality. We're still looking for the same quality, but trying to find different vendors who have the best quality and best pricing.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity are the most important values to me in my work and personal life. Those two values guide everything I do, both professionally and personally.
