Lisa Mitchell serves as a supervisor in the medical coding field in Okc, OK. She specializes in both inpatient and outpatient coding and maintains professional credentials through AAPC and AHIMA. Lisa began her career as an ED coder and advanced by obtaining certifications and building expertise that allowed her to take on a supervisory position. She owns and operates her own coding business, where she focuses on advanced medical coding, compliance auditing, revenue cycle and education and training. Lisa emphasizes the importance of continuous education and has mentored others in the industry.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them that knowledge is power. Everything that you want to succeed in life is there for the taking. Educate yourselfI, learn everything you can. Work hard, strive for success. Do whatever you need to do to achieve that goal and move it forward by helping others to achieve the knowledge that you have learned. Be confident, surround yourself with positivity, never stop learning.
