What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the journey my life has taken me on—from going back to college and graduating to seizing the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, which brings me immense joy. My experience battling stage 4 bladder cancer, where I was given less than a year to live, has also shaped my perspective; being cancer-free for the past seven years has given me a renewed outlook on life. I’m especially proud of my amazing daughter, who is now 18 and heading off to college to start her own journey.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that you can overcome anything as long as you never give up and to Lean in to every opportunity that comes your way —a lesson that became especially meaningful when I went back to school later in life and saw firsthand the importance of perseverance and continuous growth.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe “you can and you will,” Always look to improve yourself and surround yourself with individuals who inspire you. It is also important to take time to care for yourself both physically and mentally because staying strong, focused and intentional is key to long-term success.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
