Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lisa
01What do you attribute your success to?
Early on, it was definitely the investment from others. They believed in me often more than I think I did. And then later in life, it is the tenacity and the perseverance to just reinvent myself. The tenacity to just lean in and commitment to my trade. Never stop learning.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do your passion. Make your vocation and your avocation something that you love. And stay true to who you are. It's very easy especially early on in your field to navigate away from what you're great at because somebody offers dollar signs or a big title. It's a very short-sighted win. You do what you love, you can always make money. And you'll be happier.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The challenge is that each day there's a new tool out there to support this field, but it's also a new tool to learn, and it's deciding which ones you invest your time in. The opportunity is that there are so many organizations and individuals who couldn't afford to get their messages out before because paid media was expensive, and now with social media it's relatively inexpensive or free. Anybody can get their message out through social media.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, kindness, service.
