Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lisa
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute much of my success to the strong work ethic I learned from my father. He taught me the importance of putting clients first, following through on commitments, and doing whatever is necessary to deliver on your responsibilities. I watched him work tirelessly to support our family and serve his clients, even cutting vacations short when they needed him. His example instilled in me a deep sense of dedication, reliability, and professionalism, values that continue to guide me throughout my career.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering the insurance industry to remember that it is a relatively small community, so building and maintaining professional relationships is essential. Never burn bridges, always conduct yourself with professionalism, and stay true to your integrity and ethics. Women can sometimes face different perceptions when they demonstrate strength and confidence, which makes it even more important to remain grounded in who you are and the standards you uphold. After nearly 30 years in the industry, I have found that looking out for others, treating people with respect, and continuing to learn are key to building a lasting and successful career.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities I see in the insurance industry is continued professional growth, both for myself and for the people I work with. My goal is to continue advancing in my career, with the potential to grow into a regional manager role in the future. I also see mentorship as an important opportunity to strengthen the industry by sharing my knowledge and experience, supporting the development of my team members, and helping foster a culture of continuous learning. As I mentor others, I remain committed to expanding my own expertise and finding new ways to contribute to the company’s growth and success.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Helping people is one of the most important values in both my professional and personal life. I am naturally analytical and enjoy working with claims, data, and complex challenges, but I equally value building relationships with employees and supporting their growth. Mentorship is especially meaningful to me, and I believe a strong leader should never feel threatened by the strengths or knowledge of their team members. If the people on my team are smarter than me in certain areas, I see that as a strength because their expertise makes the entire team more effective and ultimately makes my job easier.
