About Lisa

Lisa Riley is a registered dietitian and registered nurse based in Norman, Oklahoma, with about 20 years of experience in healthcare. She earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics and began her career at Boeing in pricing and estimating before pursuing her passion for nutrition science and becoming a registered dietitian. Over the years, she has worked extensively in pediatrics with children who have developmental disabilities and in sports nutrition, counseling Division I and professional athletes through a progressive clinic where she collaborated with a former professional triathlete. She currently serves in the NICU at her local hospital while having recently transitioned from part-time surgical nursing roles. Lisa is approximately 18 months away from completing her advanced practice nurse certification, which will expand her scope to include ordering and interpreting labs. She values integrity, honesty, and treating patients with dignity and respect, and she credits her success to her ambition, openness to new paths, and willingness to work hard. Her professional journey reflects a commitment to providing patients with options through diet, supplements, and medication in an emerging functional medicine landscape.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lisa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm a very ambitious person, I have a very busy mind, and I think just being open to different paths, and kind of following what doors open for me, and being willing to put in the work. It's just been kind of a fun journey.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Follow what you enjoy doing. If you're a hard worker and you love what you do, doors and paths will open for you. Keep your mind open to different paths that come along.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be confident in yourself, believe in what you can do, believe in the power that women have, stand strong, and be firm, and be a hard worker, and fight for yourself. Always bet on yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There's a big emerging need and want for more functional-leaning medicine. People want not only a medical side in the traditional medical model, but alternatives as well. I like to give people options through diet, through supplements, and medication options.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I highly value integrity and honesty. Treating people as humans with dignity and respect. Being fully honest with patients to build trust and rapport.
