Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lisa

01What do you attribute your success to?

Hard work and persistence. I've never been thinking for an hour, so I find another way.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Women sometimes have blinders on and sell ourselves short. We can have a much greater impact if we thought about what that impact could be or had more confidence that what we have to say and do matters on a larger scale. Widen our nets in terms of what we think the possibilities are.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges include research, funding, and grant monies; educators are not paid what we're worth. Opportunities are to be creative and find ways to continue doing what we love while supporting ourselves.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is everything. Spending time with our children, being on the water, outdoors, hiking. Love of animals and the outdoors grounds us and keeps us connected.
