About Lisa
Lisa Thomas is a seasoned education professional and Senior Account Executive at Scholastic Education, where she supports school districts across Western North Carolina with literacy, professional learning, and family and community engagement solutions. With more than 30 years of experience in education and educational publishing, Lisa brings a consultative, strategic approach to helping districts develop long-term plans that address the needs of students, educators, leaders, and families.
Lisa began her career as a classroom teacher before transitioning into curriculum and educational publishing. Throughout her extensive tenure with Scholastic, she has held progressively responsible roles, including National Director of Professional Development Services, National Director of Training and Development, Vice President of Training and Development, National Vice President of Adoptions and Customization, and North Carolina Account Executive. She has also served as Director of Sales Enablement at Learning Without Tears and Senior Account Executive at Carnegie Learning. Her accomplishments include developing professional learning and sales training programs, supporting large-scale literacy adoptions, building district partnerships, and earning Scholastic President's Awards in 2015 and 2019.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and completed additional studies in Radio and Television and Marketing at Western Carolina University. She is a certified trainer in Dimensions of Professional Selling and Service Excellence through Carew International and has been involved with organizations including the Association for Talent Development and KNOW Women of North Carolina. Her professional strengths include strategic planning, literacy solutions, professional learning, family and community engagement, educational sales, strategic communications, and relationship building. Through her work, Lisa continues to help schools and communities create meaningful opportunities for literacy, learning, and family engagement.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering the industry to seek out mentors, whether within their current workplace or from outside their field. I also recommend investing in continuous professional development through LinkedIn, books, research, and other learning opportunities. Most importantly, support and uplift other women, as having a strong network can make a meaningful difference in navigating the workplace.
