Her Story

About Lisette

Lisette Guillen serves as a Crisis Responder and Crime Commentator with 14 years in the field. She acts as a liaison between affected families and law enforcement detectives on unsolved homicide cases, missing persons investigations, and violent crimes. Guillen also assists in securing news coverage for these cases to generate public tips and leads. Her educational background includes studies in media and graphic communications at a free vocational technical school, where she completed separate courses in broadcast media and graphic communications. She began working early in the graphic communications field without attending college. Previously, Guillen worked with Crime Stopper Case Files television shows and served as executive producer for the Chicago edition for approximately 10 years before transitioning to independent media work. She credits her success to her faith, which keeps her strong, grounded, and humble, along with the support of her family and the raw emotions she witnesses from victims' families that motivate her pursuit of justice. Guillen advises young women entering the field to persist in the male-dominated law enforcement environment, seek mentors, continue learning, treat others with respect, and remain kind.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lisette

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith keeps me strong, grounded and humble. That's first and foremost, and then family because of their support. Also the families of the victims because I see firsthand the raw emotion of what they're going through and that keeps me going since we need to continue to get justice for these families.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay with it especially in the male-dominated law enforcement side. Find a mentor. Always keep learning because things change so fast. Treat people with respect and remain kind to everybody.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

My family and my faith are very big to me. That's what keeps me going. I appreciate my family's support even though the work is hard for them sometimes.
