Her Interview
Ten minutes with Lisi
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the strong sense of self-worth and confidence my parents instilled in me. Their consistent support gave me the foundation to believe in myself and pursue opportunities. I also credit my self-motivation and my willingness to step outside of my comfort zone, pursue the next level, and embrace opportunities for growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
You shouldn't wait around for opportunities to come to you. If you see an opportunity or want to grow, take the initiative to find those opportunities and growth. Be your own advocate rather than assuming others will advocate for you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be afraid of making mistakes. Lean in, learn as much as you can, and give it your all. Be okay with failing or making mistakes because the biggest differentiator is how you react to them. It's better to jump in and learn than to be afraid to step in.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is that insurance is very dependent upon the market and the economy. Costs have gone up, employers are stressed about costs and cutting staff. The opportunity is to be more innovative and creative, exploring all options, educating the team, and supporting clients to take steps toward innovative solutions.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Resilience is key - bouncing back from setbacks and mistakes, focusing on how you react to adversity. Consistency is crucial - just do what you say you're going to do and stick to the plan. Honesty is important personally, being honest with my kids and encouraging them to be open.
