About Lissa
Lissa Sears is the founder of the Flat Out Love nonprofit based in Indianapolis, Indiana. She organizes Flatties meetups across the country to create community for those navigating life after going flat following breast cancer or other breast diseases. Sears studied journalism and communications and worked at local TV stations before transitioning to sales, where she spent 14 years selling windows and patio rooms and earned recognition as a top representative in Indiana. After her own experiences with breast cancer and multiple sclerosis, she began posting images and hosting events to reduce isolation, drawing on her background in sales and motivational speaking to encourage others to step outside their comfort zones and focus on what is possible. She values honesty above all and credits advice from Louie to always be yourself.

Ten minutes with Lissa
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The most advice and the best advice I think I've ever gotten came later from Louie. Always be yourself, don't ever change.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would have them ask themselves, what's the best that can happen? We always ask what's the worst, no, what's the best that can happen. Step outside your comfort zone.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is a big one, yeah, because I hate a liar and a cheat. I hate when people are fake. Just be you.
