I work in a hotel where it's never a dull moment. We always have something going on - checking what's the deal, what's the maintenance, what are the numbers. We're right in the heart of downtown, right along the Chicago River, so we check if there are conferences in town, if Bruno Mars, Beyonce, or Taylor Swift are performing this weekend and if they're going to sell us out. I manage my own front desk department, but I also manage the maintenance, the housekeeping, and just the overall operations of the hotel. We deal with groups, the billing cycle, and a lot of customer recovery. I handle the human resources portion too, making sure that the ladies are happy, that my team is happy, and that we have a fun and great environment, even though it's crazy busy and we're going a thousand miles per hour. People start their shift and it's fast and furious, so you've got to keep up the beat, stay happy, excited, and smile even though it's a busy, crazy day.
