Mexcor International
San Marcos, TX 78666

Liz Melton is an experienced beverage industry professional currently serving as Area Manager for Morales Beverage Group in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. In her role, she oversees on-premise accounts across bars and restaurants, manages a team of sales representatives, and leads the execution of programs designed to grow brand presence and drive sales. She is known for her hands-on leadership style and commitment to building strong relationships with account partners.

Liz has nearly nine years of experience in the spirits distribution industry, with a career path that includes roles at Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC), Western Sun Vodka, and Johnson Brothers. At RNDC, she spent almost seven years and advanced from sales representative to district manager, gaining extensive experience in both field sales and team leadership. Her background also includes a significant foundation in distribution, where she spent 11 years with Grocery Supply Company in convenience store operations before transitioning into the spirits industry.

What makes Liz’s journey especially notable is that she entered the spirits industry with no prior experience or knowledge of alcohol sales, quickly learning the business and advancing rapidly due to her strong work ethic and adaptability. She is also a single mother who has raised her daughter independently while building her career, a responsibility that has fueled her determination and resilience. Liz’s passion for her work stems from her love of people, variety in daily challenges, and the opportunity to continuously grow while leading teams in a dynamic, relationship-driven industry.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my dad. I get my work ethic from my dad. In the spirits industry, there's not a lot of women that get promoted. Now, over the years, the number of successful women in this industry has grown a lot, but there was a time when there weren't very many women leaders in it. So it's just that motivation to be a leader, to help people grow and be successful.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received is to always ask the questions. If you don't ask the question, the answer is always no. So, to be vocal and ask.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering this field to always work hard, always ask the questions, and just speak up. Don't ever dim your voice, always be loud.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges are probably that I deal with a lot of bar owners, and I'm on their time. I'm on bartender's time, bar manager's time, and bar owner's time. I can dedicate my whole day to a plan that I have, but if something comes up with them and they cancel at the last minute, there's nothing I can do about it. They'll have to come throughout my whole day.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I believe being a mother is the most important thing to me. I want to be a good example for my daughter. I want to show my daughter that she can do anything that she puts her mind to. So I just try to treat others kindly. I want to be treated kindly. And I just try to lead by example.
