About Liz

Liz Strut is an incoming student at Northeastern University pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in accounting, finance, and an interest in computer science and FinTech. Her journey into technology began through Hack Club, where she discovered coding and the collaborative nature of the tech community. Since then, she has participated in multiple hackathons, cybersecurity capture-the-flag competitions, and hardware projects, expanding her skills in software development, innovation, and problem-solving.

Beyond academics and technology, Liz has demonstrated strong leadership, creativity, and community involvement. During her time at Wayland Academy, she served as a student library director, led as a JV Tennis Captain, and earned recognition as a Tennis Champion of Character for her integrity, perseverance, and commitment to teamwork. She has also contributed through community service initiatives, including UNICEF Club activities and charity events, while receiving honors such as the 100-hour Head of School Community Service Award and recognition as a Featured Photographer for the My Adirondacks Project.

Liz is passionate about using technology, business, and creativity to make an impact. She has experience as a Hack Club Stardance Ambassador, helping connect young creators with opportunities in technology, and has developed projects in software, hardware, and web design. She has also built a social media presence focused on healthy lifestyle content, gaining recognition through features such as ABC News coverage of her TikTok work. As she begins her studies at Northeastern University, Liz looks forward to continuing her growth in FinTech, coding, and technology leadership while inspiring the next generation of builders and innovators.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Liz

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I always say what you put in is what you get out and to just never give up. I was my team's tennis captain and I never won a single game but they gave me an award because I would always say what you put in is what you get out and I was always working really hard and being a good role model on the team.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most are leadership, service, creativity, and perseverance. Through my experiences as a student library director, community volunteer, photographer, and tennis team captain, I learned that true leadership is about supporting others, staying consistent, and making a positive impact beyond achievements or victories.
