About Liza

I've been in the automotive industry for almost 28 years, and it's been quite a journey. I started at a car dealership while going to college because I needed a job, and I ended up staying and working my way up from writing service to managing service for about 16 years. The last 14 years, I've been at the management level where I manage multiple dealerships. I worked for Larry H. Miller for 26 years and oversaw 17 dealerships across Utah, Idaho, and Washington. Now I'm with Axio Auto and Generous Auto, where I oversee 6 service and parts departments in Utah and Idaho. We're a big dealer group with 11 dealerships, including 4 Mitsubishi dealerships and used car dealerships. I was originally going to school to be a stockbroker, but I was doing well in the car business and decided that's where I wanted to stay. Under the Larry H. Miller Group, I had the opportunity to get my master's degree, and I graduated with my master's degree in business management in August of 2021. Going back to school in my 40s was quite the adventure, but it made me a better person and better at my job. It made me slow down and understand what I could handle in a day, and the business management side helped me have a different look on things. My main responsibilities include making sure managers are doing what they're supposed to in their departments, doing reporting for our group showing what we're tracking and our goals and forecasts, and doing monthly training with my managers to make sure they're all up to speed. I try to visit Idaho at least once a month and stay in contact with them weekly, sometimes daily. My most notable professional achievement is probably growing departments and training people to be the very best person they can be. I love to show them how to grow and how to impact people, because they don't have growth without understanding how their personality and ability can impact a department. I love to watch people grow, and I want them all to want my job. That's my ultimate goal. If I can train them all to do what I do and understand it, it just makes everything that much better.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I'm in a very man's world, and I love it. I wish there was more women in this industry, but there's just not. I think it has a bad name, and I wish there was more. So, any women that want to get into it, I love to talk to them and try to tell them the pros, because I think they're scared.
