About Liza
Liza Kawaller is a client partnerships professional with seven years of experience in consulting and business development roles across startup and SaaS environments. She works with author Kim Scott at Radical Candor, where she helps organizations tackle leadership development, communication, and management issues by teaching honest feedback practices in the workplace. Her earlier career includes time at MasterClass after working at a Nashville startup that raised a one million dollar seed round as the only non-healthcare company to do so at the time. Prior to that, she supported an entrepreneur managing real estate teams and a co-working space, which sparked her interest in startup life. She attributes her drive to aligning her work with causes she deeply cares about, such as building teams that communicate well and care for one another. Outside her professional roles, she serves on the advisory board of Southern Word, a nonprofit that teaches literacy, confidence, and leadership through poetry, writing, and performance in schools and juvenile detention centers.

Ten minutes with Liza
01What do you attribute your success to?
I always make sure to align myself with the things that I really, really care about. And then just the drive comes naturally. I'm actually currently reading Grit by Angela Duckworth, and that's like a big finding is that like I think even like Charles Darwin was like I'm bad at a whole lot of stuff but I just love to observe nature. So like what he did and so she was kind of like talking about like that's a huge part of being driven is just really really just loving something and so I think that's me it's like I really pay attention to what lights me up what energizes me I feel like what needs to happen in the world and so yeah I think it just comes from like sheer passion I guess.
