Her Story

About Lizanne

Lizanne Magarity Pando, Ed.D., is the President of St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in the Greater Philadelphia region, where she has served for over a decade providing strategic leadership in academics, enrollment growth, and institutional advancement. Her work focuses on strengthening student experience, expanding opportunity pathways, and ensuring sustainable financial and programmatic growth for the school community.

A defining accomplishment of her leadership is the development of the “Healthcare Careers in 123” initiative, a career pathway program that partners with colleges and Jefferson Hospital North to provide dual enrollment, mentorship, and hands-on healthcare exposure. Through this initiative, students gain access to clinical learning experiences, professional mentorship, and certification opportunities such as Certified Nursing Assistant training, with strong outcomes including 100% job placement and college scholarship support for nursing pathways.

Prior to her current role, Lizanne built extensive experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership, including directing major national events such as the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. She is also a co-founder of the Trisomy 21 Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and has raised millions through philanthropic initiatives. Her leadership philosophy centers on faith, integrity, empathy, and creating meaningful, career-connected educational opportunities that support both student success and long-term community impact.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lizanne

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to faith and hard work. These two principles have grounded me throughout my career and guided my decisions in both leadership and service.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is “family first.” No one ever looks back and wishes they worked more, and I believe maintaining balance between personal and professional life is essential for meaningful leadership.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Follow your passion, because when you truly love what you do, it won’t feel like work. By becoming an expert in your chosen field, your impact naturally extends to others in a positive and lasting way.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges is addressing the changing needs of children, especially in the context of rising mental health concerns and increasing external pressures from media and technology. At the same time, there is a strong opportunity to expand faith-based, values-driven education and to build programs that provide students with both emotional grounding and real-world career pathways.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The most important values in my life and work are integrity, empathy, compassion, and hard work. These principles guide how I lead, how I support my community, and how I approach both personal and professional responsibilities.
