Ten minutes with Lizy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of community, meaningful relationships, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. Over time, I have learned the importance of being relatable, authentic, and genuinely invested in the people around me, which has allowed me to build a strong network of wonderful professionals and individuals who support one another in a reciprocal way. I am also deeply passionate about continuing my education and grounding my work in research and neuroscience. I believe that combining genuine human connection with an evidence-based foundation has helped me build trust, create meaningful impact, and develop relationships that continue to support both my personal and professional growth.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received was from one of my therapeutic coaches, who encouraged me not to “live off the crumbs” of life or my business. That perspective taught me not to settle for opportunities or circumstances that are less than sustaining, meaningful, and rewarding. It encouraged me to become more intentional about what I truly wanted, remain open to new possibilities, and pursue opportunities that aligned with my goals and values. I believe in taking ownership of my career, continuing to grow, and creating a path that allows me to contribute meaningfully rather than simply becoming a cog in someone else’s system.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe in yourself while being willing to do the personal and professional work required to grow. Building a meaningful career or business takes persistence, resilience, and a willingness to learn from challenges along the way. I often use the phrase “grit and grace” because success requires both the determination to face adversity and the ability to move through those experiences with compassion, humility, and strength. Embrace the challenges, learn from them, and allow them to shape you into an even stronger and more capable professional.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field has been the power of community and collaboration. What began as an expectation that I would work in solo practice has grown into a team of women who genuinely connect, support, and empower one another. This community has also given me the flexibility to manage my own schedule while traveling throughout the United States and internationally to speak, train, and attend professional conferences. At the same time, I recognize that women in leadership and training roles can sometimes encounter environments shaped by competition or a scarcity mindset, including situations where others may discourage growth rather than support it. I believe mentorship and professional relationships can be incredibly powerful, but it is equally important to trust your own knowledge, recognize your capabilities, and have the confidence to pursue the opportunities that align with your strengths rather than allowing other people's perceptions to define what you can accomplish.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are honesty and integrity. I believe in communicating openly, being authentic in my interactions, and following through on my commitments. I strive to lead and serve with transparency, compassion, and respect while remaining true to my principles. These values guide the way I build relationships, make decisions, support others, and approach both my professional responsibilities and personal life.
