Lonna Campbell is a dynamic sales and marketing professional with a strong foundation in graphic design and creative services. Currently serving as Sales & Creative Services Lead at Kovach, she plays a key role in supporting preconstruction efforts through strategic marketing, proposal development, and brand positioning. Known for her ability to blend creativity with business strategy, Lonna helps elevate company visibility while contributing to project success across the construction industry.

Lonna’s career reflects a lifelong passion for creativity and design. She earned her degree in Digital Arts and Graphic Design from the University of Alaska Anchorage, originally aspiring to work in advertising or marketing. She began her career with an internship at an advertising agency in Alaska before relocating to Washington, where she pursued freelance and temporary design work, creating logos, brochures, and websites for a variety of clients.

She later transitioned into commercial real estate, where she spent nearly nine years supporting brokers and agents by developing high-impact marketing materials and property campaigns. After her company expanded to Phoenix, Lonna relocated and was promoted to Office Manager, where she led a team of graphic designers while continuing to oversee marketing initiatives and gaining valuable experience in operations, administration, and vendor management.

Building on her marketing expertise and industry relationships, Lonna transitioned into the construction industry with Kovach, a Chandler-based subcontractor specializing in building envelope systems. Initially hired as Office Manager, she was quickly promoted into a sales and creative services role. In this position, she develops RFP responses and presentations, researches project opportunities, manages social media, and supports the company’s overall brand growth.

In her current role, Lonna continues to expand her knowledge of building envelope systems, including exterior facades, metal panels, and glass. She thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments and enjoys contributing across departments. Lonna values a balanced approach to work and life, believing that creativity, curiosity, and adaptability are key to long-term personal and professional growth.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to having a very supportive family. Growing up, my parents always encouraged my creativity and supported whatever interests I pursued. They never doubted that I would eventually find a way to use that creativity to do something meaningful, regardless of the career path I chose. They never pressured me to follow a specific direction—they simply believed in me and gave me the freedom to explore what inspired me.

Now that I’m a mother myself, that experience has shaped how I approach raising my own kids. I make a conscious effort to never dismiss something they’re interested in. If they’re passionate about something, I want to support and nurture that curiosity because those experiences are what help kids grow, discover their strengths, and build confidence. I truly believe that having that kind of support can influence the choices they make and the paths they pursue for the rest of their lives.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One mindset that has always guided me is the quote, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” It’s a reminder that growth rarely happens inside your comfort zone. Trying new things can be intimidating, but I believe opportunity comes from being willing to take that first step. Even when the outcome isn’t what you hoped for, there is always something to learn from the experience. Rejection is simply part of the process, and the ability to accept it, learn from it, and move forward is what ultimately drives personal and professional growth.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It can be intimidating walking into a room and being the minority as a woman in the construction industry. My advice is, stay confident in yourself and believe in the power of kindness because it can go a long way when meeting new people.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

When I first came to this company, I was nervous because I didn’t know anything about the construction industry. Once I started taking on larger projects, I was given a lot of information, and I made a point to spend extra time reading and really absorbing what was in front of me. It has really helped me understand the different types of products we create.

We have two warehouses for metal and glass where we fabricate our own products and systems. That has been the biggest challenge to learn because I don’t have a background in construction. I’ve had to learn by looking at photos, analyzing details, and talking with project managers and drafters to better understand their roles and how everything works together.

Everything is new for me, but it has been a great experience so far. What really helps in this new job is that everyone is involved. When we’re pursuing a project, everyone participates in the meetings and works together. It’s not like other jobs I’ve had where I was in one department and only responsible for a small part of the puzzle. Here, everyone is involved in the entire process, so I really feel like I’m part of something from start to finish.
