Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my upbringing and strong foundational background. Raised by my grandparents, my grandmother instilled in me the importance of showing respect to everyone, regardless of title or position, a principle that continues to guide how I build relationships, collaborate, and lead. This mindset has helped me connect effectively with others, foster trust, and gain buy-in across professional settings. My early educational experience at Dallas College also played a key role in shaping my path, reinforcing my commitment to giving back to the community where I began my academic journey and contributing to its continued growth and success.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering my industry to take a thoughtful, observant approach before moving directly into solutions. In my experience, especially in male-dominated environments, it is more effective to first assess the data, understand the full context, and then develop a well-rounded perspective. Presenting ideas that are informed, collaborative, and inclusive of key stakeholders tends to be better received than proposing solutions in isolation. Building strong relationships through collaboration and networking is also essential, as securing early buy-in and support plays a critical role in long-term success and credibility.
