Ten minutes with Lora

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to perseverance and strength, along with the ability to learn from my mistakes.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is to be coachable, listen more, and talk less.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never give up. Just feel your worth. You are worth it. Be around like-minded people and try not to let the chaos around you affect you. Be your person and be your own cheerleader.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Rates in the insurance industry are challenging because the economy is not the greatest right now. Everybody wants to cut things out, and they feel like insurance is the first one that they could decrease or cut out. I educate my clients that we are not removing coverages or exposing them to risk, as that creates errors and omissions. It is a lot about educating the client about what they are getting and not getting cut-rate insurance because I have a fiduciary responsibility to take care of them.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Mutual respect and being given a voice are really important to me. It is earned to get that voice. Respect and having a voice.
