About Loraine
Loraine FosterSawyer is an intensive in-community clinician who has worked with children and families in New Jersey for approximately 40 years. She began her career as a social worker and transitioned into therapeutic roles, providing cognitive behavioral therapy, coping skills, and play therapy to address trauma and behavioral issues. FosterSawyer is a licensed clinical social worker who earned her bachelor's degree from Kean University in Union, New Jersey, and later completed her master's degree at New York University Clinical School of Social Work in 1997 or 1998. She previously worked with New York City Children's Services and has extensive experience supporting abused and neglected children as well as offering parent coaching. In addition to her clinical practice, FosterSawyer is a veteran affiliated with the National Association for Black Military Women and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and she has served as a deaconess in her church's women's ministry since 2015.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Continually always keep yourself updated on what's going on. Things change in the blink of an eye. From an educational aspect keep yourself updated from the social aspect and always be open to learning new things. I have to be able to work with the change because we are agents of change. My younger peers and colleagues and learn from them. Incorporate everything into the platform you're working with.
