Her Story

About Lorayne

Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to learn from incredible mentors who have shaped my expertise in nutrition and wellness. I studied enzyme science and the science behind enzymatic reactions within the human body under Janice Davidson, a double master's graduate out of Loma Linda University, who was absolutely stellar. When I was living in Carlsbad, I had the opportunity to study Ayurvedic concepts and philosophies with Dr. Terry Shirvani, a licensed acupuncturist and naturopathic physician who was part of the Chopra Institute, which had its ground zero right there. I was also influenced by Dr. David Wolf in my study of probiotics, which led me to publish one of the first articles for consumers on probiotics way back in the 90s, when I would mention probiotics and people were like, 'What? What is that?' Candy Sagan, a registered dietitian, taught me care planning, how to document, how to interview, what to look for, and how to run a professional kitchen, which I've actually helped set up on a lot of different fronts. Nigel Graham is my go-to person to ask about all things nutritional assessment-wise - he's absolutely brilliant and based in the UK, but we communicate regularly. These are my people, and I didn't get here by myself. I'm really proud of my background and what I've done, and I feel like I've reached that point where I want to showcase it and share it with people.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I didn't get here by myself, that is for doggone sure. I've had so many mentors throughout my career who have been integral to my success. From Janice Davidson who taught me enzyme science, to Dr. Terry Shirvani who introduced me to Ayurvedic concepts, to Dr. David Wolf who influenced my work with probiotics, to Candy Sagan who taught me care planning and how to run a professional kitchen, to Nigel Graham who is my go-to person for nutritional assessment - these are my people. Each of them brought something absolutely stellar and brilliant to my professional development, and I'm incredibly grateful for their guidance and expertise.
