Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lorena

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success comes from passion for being a nurse. If you have that in your heart, everything comes naturally - your patience, understanding, smile, and joy. I never stop studying and apply theories and research to patient care, encouraging continuous learning in my team.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be a good role model because young nurses learn by seeing your empathy, advocacy, and dedication rather than just hearing instructions. Plant seeds by mentoring, show resilience, and never stop learning one thing every day. Fight for proper staffing and patient safety without burning bridges.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

At this stage in my career, leaving a legacy by supporting young nurses to be the best they can be is most important. Nursing is about helping patients, families, and the community, making them cope and become part of the community again. Empathy and being part of a village of caring people are key.
