About Lorena
She is a dedicated educator and photographer with over two decades of experience teaching photography, digital media, and visual storytelling at Cal Poly Pomona, where she has served as Lecturer in Photography since 2005. In this role, she teaches courses in basic photography, Photoshop, Instagram-based photo critique and analysis, photojournalism, and upper-division documentary forms survey, while mentoring students as they transition from undergraduate to graduate programs and into professional creative careers. She holds an MFA in Photography and Visual Design from the University of Oregon and has completed graduate studies in Sociology at The New School for Social Research. She is recognized as a passionate, inspiring, and deeply knowledgeable educator who is committed to nurturing the next generation of visual artists and photographers through rigorous instruction, thoughtful mentorship, and a commitment to creative and professional development.
