About Lorena
Lorena Vargas serves in the compliance department at Bell Flight, supporting small businesses with certifications and contracts. She began this role in 2025 after spending 17 years in education, progressing from classroom teaching to reading interventionist for pre-K through 5th grade students including those with dyslexia, then district instructional coach creating curriculum and providing professional development, and finally working in the planning, assessment, and accountability department handling compliance and testing. A graduate of the University of Texas Westland University with a Bachelor's of Art degree majoring in education and minoring in Spanish, she is vice president of the Texas Western University Alumni Board. Her professional achievements include having her lessons published in the 2011 book Blooming Writers and receiving the Estrella Award from the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas in 2024. She is actively involved in several organizations including the Texas Health Resource Leadership Council Committee Board, the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas Fort Worth chapter, and the GILLS foundation, which addresses medical needs for underserved children in Tarrant County.
