Her Story

About Lori

Lori Harvey is a Senior Manager of Global STEM Education and CQ Business Strategy at Hitachi High-Tech America, www.Hitachi-HighTech.com, bringing more than two decades of experience in STEM education, workforce development, diversity, and strategic communication. She leads initiatives that connect business priorities with social impact while expanding access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. A major part of her work involves the Hitachi Inspire STEM Education Outreach Program, which places portable scanning electron microscopes in schools, universities, museums, science centers, and community organizations. Through partnerships with educators, industry leaders, and policymakers, she helps build sustainable STEM ecosystems designed to spark curiosity and strengthen the future technical workforce. Beyond STEM outreach, Harvey has played an active role in advancing cultural competency and inclusive workplace strategies. Her work includes developing employee resource groups, supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives, delivering leadership workshops, and strengthening collaboration among employees from different cultures, generations, and backgrounds. She also works as a strategist and consultant in STEM education and workforce development, contributing to grant writing, fundraising, research, advocacy, and partnership development. In 2008, she co-founded the Female Alliance for STEM Excellence, an organization focused on encouraging girls and women to explore STEM education and careers. Her broader involvement has included organizations such as the National Girls Collaborative, the National Center for Women and Information Technology, the Pennsylvania STEM ecosystem, and Girl Develop It, where she has served as a strategic advisory board member. Harvey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Law and English from La Roche University, an educational foundation that has supported her strengths in communication, program development, and strategic messaging. She was also recognized with Hitachi's Inspiration of the Year Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in 2020 for work reflecting the company's commitment to positive social impact. Throughout her career, she has remained particularly committed to increasing opportunities for women and other groups traditionally underrepresented in technical fields. Guided by the influence of strong role models in her own life, Harvey continues to combine education, workforce strategy, cultural transformation, and community engagement to help more people see themselves as part of the future of STEM.
