Her Story

About Lori

Lori Sapp is a seasoned healthcare and medical-device professional serving as Business Development Manager for Hanger in Northeast Ohio. With approximately 25 years of experience in orthotics and durable medical equipment, she began her career as an X-ray and cast technician before becoming a BOC-licensed orthotist. Her clinical and technical background has given her extensive expertise in bracing and orthotic solutions, including leg, knee, and back orthoses, while her personal experiences as an athlete and parent have deepened her empathy for patients navigating injuries and mobility challenges.

Before joining Hanger, Lori spent more than five years with University Hospitals, where she served as Supervisor of Durable Medical Equipment and Community Liaison and helped establish and expand a new DME department from two locations to more than 30. Today, she combines her clinical knowledge with business development and community outreach, working closely with physicians, therapists, clinicians, and patients to increase awareness of innovative prosthetic and orthotic technologies. She is particularly passionate about helping people discover newly available and insurance-covered bracing options that can improve mobility, confidence, and quality of life.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Lori has demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening her local community. As president of S.P.A.C.E. (Southeast Pirate Athletic Community Endeavor), a role she has held since 2006, she has helped raise more than $1.5 million to improve athletic facilities and opportunities for students in a rural school district, including supporting the development of a new six-lane track. Through both her healthcare career and community leadership, Lori reflects a commitment to service, education, accessibility, and helping people recognize possibilities that can lead to fuller, more active lives.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Lori

01What do you attribute your success to?

I have an excellent husband who is amazing. I had great parents who taught us to appreciate what we had and we had the best family dynamic where we laughed a lot. Our family is very involved in church and we always make sure everyone feels welcome.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Speak about what you know and be confident in that. Do not burn bridges because you will see the same people again in a smaller community than you think. My parents taught me to be kind and leave every place in a positive way.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You don't have to be the smartest person in the room. Learn from everyone around you. Don't be afraid to fail because even failure can produce great things. Pick the right people and work as a team.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I value integrity and my word above all. As a Christian, God guides me and those values don't change. You can be strong and straightforward without being harsh or rude, and always give people second chances and the benefit of trying to do better.
